Getting into character and establishing space on stage

Making a "grimace"

Pre-show, excited to get started. Sagey was disappointed with the Clown Curriculum, which was mostly Farce and Theatre. She felt that it should have been more acrobatic. Silas LOVED Clown Camp and was very sorry to see it end.

Sagey and Silas participated in an afternoon Clown Workshop this week as they have a week and a half off for the vacances toussant....this was there culminating exhibition.

Courge Halloween

Both kids were excited to scoop at first, then Silas decided it was too gross, though Sagey remained enthralled. Sagey even tasted the raw pumpkin guts and claimed she liked it.

Silas did the eyes and eyebrows, Sagey the mouth and nose.

We looked for a pumpkin all over, dispatched Bill to find a pumpkin in Grenoble, unable to find one. The yesterday, Petit Casino had three Courges Halloween! The kids and I deliberated for a while (to the amusement of the cashier, who knows us well by now) and finally chose. All of them had their stems cut off...usually half my choosing criteria is a good stem, but apparently the French cut the stems off their pumpkins before sale....

HALLOWEEN PARTY

Sneaking up the stairs

Pass the gourd.....

And of course....gouter!

Made a communal mural

We made tissue paper ghosts and masks

Un fantome

Homemade Bloody Witches Fingers....taking advantage of the readily available praline almonds.

Some of our decorations including the "deluxe creepy cloth" which Mimi sent....and the closest thing we would find to a pumpkin.

Ready and waiting for our guests.

Also, the kids got a nice crop of Halloween cards sent from home!

Silas and Sagey invited 25 new friends to celebrate Halloween with them. From what I can tell, French kids do celebrate Halloween, but it isn't as big a deal as at home. It's also hard to find costumes/decorations etc, but luckily we had a US supplier sending large boxes of Halloween magic! The party was a big hit, everyone had fun and Sagey said it was "better than she had hoped" when she went to bed last night. Silas came up to me in the middle of the party to tell me it was a "really great party". At the end, as all her little friends were giving Sagey bisous, one little girl told her "C'est trop bien!"
